
Innovation happens when ideas are challenged, data is shared, and researchers from different disciplines gather around the same table with a common goal. That was the spirit of the 6th General Assembly of the Muspell project, held on 25–26 March 2026, hosted by Politecnico di Milano.
Over two intensive days, the consortium came together to review progress, exchange knowledge, and align on the next steps toward developing a novel medium-to long-term Thermal Energy Storage System (TESS) with embedded heat pumping capability.
The agenda covered advances in TESS modelling, updates on the test rig development, and the latest findings in material research, including upcoming testing activities. Partners also presented progress in spectroscopic analysis and explored approaches for the mechanical stabilisation of plastic crystals and polymers.
Beyond the laboratory, discussions extended to innovation and impact. The consortium examined intellectual property and potential patenting pathways, received updates on hyperloop technology innovation and progress, and reviewed the project's communication, dissemination, and portfolio activities to ensure that Muspell's results continue to reach both scientific and industrial audiences.
The conversations were just as valuable as the presentations. Questions sparked new ideas, feedback refined ongoing work, and collaborative discussions translated into a clear set of actions for the months ahead.
Muspell’s innovation journey continues, and so does the collaboration that powers it.
